Condemned child-killer Damien Echols, whose case came to national attention after the HBO documentary Paradise Lost cast serious doubt on the circumstantial evidence used to convict him, was denied an appeal by the Arkansas Supreme Court. In his decision, Justice Donald Corbin wrote, We will not undertake to reinvest jurisdiction in the trial court just for the purpose of allowing [Echols] to conduct some sort of fishing expedition. Fishing expedition? We thought he just wanted to prove he was innocent.
