Memphis on the internet.
Ardent
“The closure is temporary,” Big Star drummer Jody Stephens said on Facebook last week. “We were closed for a time for renovations. Betty Fry continued to pay me even though there wasn’t much for me to do. I retired myself from Ardent about two years ago. I was 71 and had had a very rewarding 37 years at the studio.”
“At some point in the near future I’ll return to Ardent with my drum kit and continue practicing there. All things must pass. I’m feeling pretty good about life.”
Dating
Memphis Redditors talked about best/worst dates here and u/OutdoorAdequate offered this: “Met a guy at an AA meeting. He took me out and we fucked at Overton Park at like 1 a.m., and it was an OK time, except that I eventually made a trip to the Health Department for chlamydia (shocker).
“Lmao I met him on like my second day in town and damned if it didn’t make me love this city just a little bit. I have no clue what he’s up to these days but I hope he’s still alive and sober.”
