Those looking to adopt a dog this week can have their adoption fees covered thanks to a campaign sponsored by the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Event officials and the Humane Society of Memphis announced the launch of the Mutts and Putts campaign as the city prepares for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.ย

โ€œThrough this week-long initiative, the tournament will cover adoption fees for local pups, helping them find their forever homes just in time for the August event,โ€ championship organizers said.

Interested parties can adopt dogs at the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County located at 935 Farm Road through July 19. While walk-ins are welcome, residents are encouraged to complete applications in advance.

Joe Tomek, executive director of the championship, said this is an extension of their mission to make a โ€œpositive impact on the city.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re incredibly grateful to the city for supporting us, and Mutts and Putts is a fun way to support the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County and give these deserving pups a chance to find their forever families,โ€ Tomek said.

Ellen Zahariadis, executive director of the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County, said this event sheds light on the need for animal adoption in Memphis.

โ€œWe are delighted to partner with the FedEx St. Jude Championship for another year to find wonderful homes for more of our dogs,โ€ Zahariadis added.
