WMCTV.com is reporting that Ron Meroney, the former Fox-13 newscaster, pled guilty in a Maryland courtroom this morning to charges that he raped a minor in 1974.
Meroney’s plea deal includes a 15-year sentence, with all but 18 months suspended, and five years probation. During those 18 months, Meroney will serve in-home detention, monitored by an electronic device.
Meroney will also be forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. His guilty plea will prevent him from serving any time in jail.
