The Grizzlies’ losing streak continues, this time with a 131-115 loss to Milwaukee, giving the Bucks their first win over the Grizzlies since January 2022.
Letโs get into it.
Here we have two lottery-bound teams, both shorthanded, dragging their rosters to the end of the season. At this point, I donโt think you can even call this Grizzlies team shorthanded, given that their injury report has more players listed than those who dressed out.
Memphis had one player on the court last night who was with the team at the beginning of the season โ Olivier-Maxence Prosper. That must be some kind of record.
This wasnโt as brutal as some of the most recent losses; the Grizzlies actually held a lead during this game, albeit only briefly, in the first quarter. The Bucks opened the game shooting well, going 7-for-12 from beyond the arc and 12-for-24 overall in the first period, outscoring the Grizzlies 34-25.
The Grizzlies fared a little better in the second quarter, outscoring the Bucks 31-28, reducing a 19-point lead to six points at the half. That would be the closest the Grizzlies would come to regaining a lead, and it was short-lived. Milwaukee outscored Memphis 69-59 in the second half.
By The Numbers:
A bright spot for Grizzlies fans in this game was Rayan Rupert putting up a triple-double on a career-high of 33 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, four steals, and one block.
Walter Clayton Jr. scored 20 points on 6 of 11 overall shooting and 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, along with three rebounds and four assists.
Olivier-Maxence Prosper added 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Taylor Hendricks finished with 11 points, four rebounds, and four steals.
Dariq Whitehead led the second unit with 16 points on 6 of 19 overall shooting and 3 of 10 from beyond the arc, along with three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Who Got Next?
The Grizzlies will play their last home game of the season tonight, facing off against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tip-off is at 7 PM CDT.
