Music Video Monday: “I Was Born on Saturday Night” by The Sleeveens

The Sleeveens deliver gut-punch pub-rock that’s a perfect fit for Goner Records. Their new album National Anthem is set for release on the Memphis label this Thursday, April 9th.

Stef Murphy directed the video to “I Was Born On Saturday Night” himself, using footage from The Sleeveens’ live performances, including their barn-burning Gonerfest set last September.

“It occurred to me a couple of years ago that I was actually born on Saturday night,” says Dublin-born, singer/songwriter Murphy. “I wish I’d known it all my life! This song is full of Saturday night bravado — calling out some of the evils in the world and generally telling the perpetrators that we are watching.”
