The Indie Memphis Film Festival continues today with a screening of ambitious local feature Eat, from Automusik Can Do No Wrong director C. Scott McCoy. (See Flyer story.) But the highlight of todayย’s slate might be Old Joy, a well-reviewed indie feature from writer-director Kelly Reichardt that follows two friends (Will Oldham and Daniel London) who reunite for a weekend camping trip in Oregonย’s Cascade mountain range and confront where they are in their divergent lives. Old Joy is set for an official release next month, but since a local theatrical run seems like a longshot, this might be your only chance to see it on the big screen ย— at 7 p.m. at Muvicoย’s Peabody Place theatre. The New York Times has called it one of the yearย’s best films. For more information on the Indie Memphis Film Festival, see the festival Web site.
