Mayor’s race, picked up another likely advantage Thursday with the announcement of incumbent County Mayor Mark Luttrell’s official endorsement.

In his endorsement, Luttrell cited the Trustee’s experience: “David Lenoir is the type of leader we need in public service right now, and that’s why I enthusiastically support his candidacy to be Shelby County’s next Mayor.Using his private sector experience, David has worked hard as our Trustee to make the office leaner, more efficient, and more responsive to the hard-working taxpayers of our community. He understands that true leaders must be willing to roll up their sleeves to address the underlying causes of the challenges we face like blight, crime, economic growth, and access to a solid education. David’s entire life has prepared him for this job.”

In expressing gratitude for Luttrell’s support, Lenoir, who was elected to the first of his two terms as Trustee in 2010, characterized his professional experience as a “ 20-year career in the financial services industry, working closely with electricians, auto mechanics, truck drivers and small business owners to responsibly manage their money and plan for the future.”

And he returned the favor rhetorically, praising the Mayor’s example in office : ““I’m so grateful to gain the support of Mayor Luttrell. He has been a true public servant and a steady leader for our community from his days as our Sheriff to County Mayor today, Lenoir said.

“His emphasis on fiscal restraint, low taxes, economic growth and public safety will remain top priorities of mine if given the opportunity to serve as the next County Mayor. I’ll be talking about all of those issues prior to the Republican Primary on May 1st.”

Lutteell’s other major endosement in the election of 2018 was for gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd last July.

SHELBY COUNTY, TN – Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell has announced his endorsement of David Lenoir for Shelby County Mayor. Luttrell, who is term-limited, made the announcement with less than three months until the Republican primary election on May 1st.

David Lenoir was first elected Shelby County Trustee in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. As Trustee, Lenoir made fiscal restraint, increased efficiency, and accountability to taxpayers his primary focus in improving the financial health of Shelby County and the lives of its residents.

Prior to becoming Trustee, Lenoir built a 20-year career in the financial services industry, working closely with electricians, auto mechanics, truck drivers and small business owners to responsibly manage their money and plan for the future.

David married his high school sweetheart, Shannon, and together, they’ve raised two boys on their small family farm in east Shelby County.
