City Hall coffins
“Four men, Tyrin Johnson, Darrin Pigram, Jonah Neal and Alfonso Ivy were killed by the Memphis Safe Task Force in the span of two months,” Hunter Demster said on Facebook about photos and texts he received. “Coffins, painted with their names and dates of death, were placed in front of the City Hall to remember Tyrin, Darrin, Alfonso and Jonah and bring awareness to the lack of response and accountability from city officials regarding the shootings.”

The decades-long hollowing out of Memphis got a deep dive last month in a faceless YouTube video likely written by AI.
The founding on the bluff. Yellow fever. The big annexation plan after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination and the white flight that followed. It also looks at Memphis 3.0, which the channel called “shrinking on purpose.”
The “no America” part is just that Memphis grew in landmass and lost population, unlike most American cities.
