A vote to hold action on a number of data center-related items, including a proposed moratorium, caused several residents to protest during the Tuesday, October 6th, meeting of the Memphis City Council. The meeting went into recess, but this didn’t stop the footage from going viral on social media (and being shared by TMZ).

A photo of a billboard paid for by Indivisible Memphis calling out the seven Memphis City Council members who voted to postpone the vote on the proposed data center moratorium was posted to the group’s Instagram page. “I am so here for the public citywide shaming of billionaire sellouts!” one netizen commented.

Watermane

Memphians took to Reddit, Facebook, and other platforms expressing shock over the arrest of street vendor DeMarcus Dickerson. Dickerson, known fondly as the Watermane, was arrested on Tuesday, October 6th, for obstructing the roadway. Dickerson’s charges were dropped, and he returned to his usual intersection on October 8th.
