Palestine Protest
โWE TOOK OVER THE BRIDGE YโALL!!!!!โ Memphis Voices for Palestine (MVP) posted to Instagram last Saturday. โFREE PALESTINE!!!!โ
The event was called Shut It Down for Palestine: Memphis Protest. A flyer for the MVP event said, โBiden, no more U.S. aid to Israel! The people demand a ceasefire! Free, free Palestine!โ
The protest began at Memphis City Hall last Saturday afternoon. Protesters then made their way to the Hernando DeSoto Bridge. Once they amassed on the bridge, they stopped traffic for more than an hour. Though the group promoted the event for a week online, Memphis Police Department did not respond until protesters took the bridge.

โThe amount of people in my comments who act as if theyโd be willing to commit vehicular homicide is alarming,โ Fox13 meteorologist Chelsea Chandler tweeted Sunday. โRegardless of the circumstances, itโs still murder.โ
On Monday, state Sen. Brent Taylor tweeted that he requested a review of the event by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations โto determine which individuals are responsible for this action and refer the findings to the appropriate office to be fully prosecuted.โ
