Re: “Memphis Beat, "At the River"

"Somewhat surpising" that this was renewed? More like shocked. As a proud Memphian and an Earl fan, I tried to like Memphis Beat and only managed to groan through 3 episodes. Plot cliches, painful dialogue, poor acting. They don't even bother to make sure the references are correct. It just seems lazy at best.

Memphis is colorful enough to inspire a real TV show shot on Memphis locations. By not embracing Memphis and letting it be Memphis, this mediocrity is nearly as bad for the city as those 48 Hours episodes.

Re: “Memphis: Bad for Pedestrians

After moving here from Boston I tried stopping for pedestrians, but the cars behind me either came very close to rear-ending me or taking out the pedestrian when they sped up to pull around me. Also - people crossing the street often get upset if you wait. They won't move and wave you past. Who can blame them? I gave up.
If we started with a couple of clearly marked crosswalks with signs to yield and enforced for both drivers and jaywalkers, drivers may learn to watch for pedestrians in general. It took a few years in Boston, but it clearly worked.
