Recent Future is a collaboration between two longtime friends. Long before Charlie Davis played with Trash Goblin and David Johnson played with James and the Ultrasounds, they met at the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts. During the pandemic, they decided to do a synth-punk side project. Now, they have multiple albums. “Nextime” is the duo’s fourth music video of 2025.
“We teamed up once again with ex-CBS/WREG cameraman Ben Short and Memphis Magnetic Studio to bring it to life. Unlike our previous videos, this one is meant to capture what our live performance looks and feels like,” the band says. “Special thanks to Scott McEwen, who opened up Memphis Magnetic Studio for us and gave us the chance to build an epic โamp wallโ from his collection of vintage amps.”
