Hardworking and underappreciated local noise rocker Mike Bibbs’ latest release under the Modern Convenience moniker continues on the project’s familiar trajectory of highly abrasive but tuneful garage-punk, with a few new embellishments. The production values are up slightly, and Bibbs’ herky-jerky drumming has become more robotic and rhythmically sound, providing a more stable foundation for his frequent detours into wall-of-guitar-feedback chaos. Highlights include the dark and unexpectedly moody “So What” and the synth-laden opening track, “Metallic Hearts.”
