University of Memphis football coach Tommy West has advocated five years of eligibility for Division I-A football players. (This would, in Westย’s view, alleviate some of the roster restraints due to injuries, red-shirting, and the 12-game schedule.) The NCAA rules committee seems ready to address the matter.
