A viral video showing patrons locked inside a Hickory Hill night club by Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) members over the weekend was evidence of a coordinated bust of what officials called a long-troubled venue.
The video — a Facebook Live event from Mob Tae Sosa — shows Memphis Police Department (MPD) and other Memphis Safe Task Force officers standing outside Legends Bistro & Lounge at 6232 Knight Arnold. The video’s time stamp puts the event at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
In it, agitated patrons mill about the front door, which they cannot open apparently. After about three minutes, an officer tells the crowd to get in a single file line and begin exiting the venue. Police checked identifications of the patrons as they walked out.
About 18 minutes after he went live, Mob Tae Sosa was at the door. After police checked his ID on a mobile phone, he is out the door and into the parking lot. A sea of blue police lights can be seen in the distance.
The video sparked concern of some who questioned the legality of the tactic, locking patrons in a building and forcing them to show ID to exit.

This was a joint operation involving the Memphis Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit, MSTF, the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
The business had previously been served with a nuisance warning letter after becoming the site of numerous violent incidents. Between December 15, 2025, and July 8, 2026, approximately 27 incidents were reported at the location, including aggravated assaults involving firearms, vehicle thefts, thefts from vehicles and other incidents.
During the operation, investigators identified multiple criminal, regulatory and life-safety violations. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the business was operating more than three times over its approved occupancy limit. The occupancy limit was 99 people, but more than 300 patrons were found inside.
The Organized Crime Unit made six arrests. Investigators also recovered illegal narcotics and firearms.
The co-owner was arrested on charges related to the unlawful sale of alcoholic beverages and felony narcotics offenses after investigators recovered marijuana, cash, firearms, a digital scale and other evidence of drug distribution from the manager’s office.
Another individual was arrested after attempting to flee investigators. Detectives recovered approximately 1.5 pounds of marijuana, narcotics and drug paraphernalia, and seized a vehicle believed to have been used to transport illegal narcotics.
Two armed security guards were also arrested after investigators determined they were providing armed security services without the required state licensing and certifications.
TABC agents also determined alcohol was being sold without the required state license and seized several cases of alcoholic beverages as evidence.
This investigation is ongoing and these findings are preliminary.
