Actor/playwright and Memphian Princeton James hosted The Princeton James Project 10th anniversary with events that included a red-carpet gala held July 18th, at Crosstown Theater at Crosstown Concourse.
As part of the project, which includes his Soulful Murder Mystery stage plays, James designed the Kooler Kids program in which children are trained in musical theater, dance, film, television, and acting, as well as creative writing, leadership development, and entrepreneurship.
Actor Jimmy Smits was one of the special guests at the gala. Smits and James appeared in TV’s Bluff City Law, which was filmed in Memphis.
“When we were shooting here we were talking a lot about mentorship, how important it is to try to give back to the younger people,” said Smits as he took a break from greeting guests at the gala. And, he added, “I’m just coming here to support them on their 10th anniversary.”
The roving iPhone found people on the street as well as inside buildings, including three people in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
Photo subjects were at the Hotel Pontotoc, The Peabody, Zio Matto Gelato, Cooper-Young, Dino’s Grill, and Tops Bar-B-Q & Burgers in Olive Branch.
