Wilder's Condition Called 'Stable' At Med

Former lieutenant governor John Wilder, 85, was taken to Memphis hospital after suffering a fall at his Fayette County home Thursday night. His condition had fluctuated from critical to serious to critical again in consecutive reports issued by the hospital.
Wilder's condition had been upgraded to stable as of Sunday morning.
The Somerville state senator had concluded the legislative week and returned home as usual Thursday afternoon. According to news reports, Wilder was able to drive himself after his fall to a nearby service station, where an ambulance was called.
During his stay at The Med, Wilder has received some visitors, the most prominent being Governor Phil Bredesen, who was in Memphis on Friday for an announcement about the Cover Tennessee insurance alternative.
