American Idol winner Ruben Studdard will be appearing at the National Civil Rights Museum on Saturday, June 9th, as part of the 50 Million Pound Challenge.

The 50 Million Pound Challenge is a fitness campaign aimed at the African-American community. Begun in April, more than 70,000 people have joined, losing over 150,000 pounds.

Joining Studdard will be Dr. Ian Smith, a panelist on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club, who is leading the 50 Million Pound Challenge. Also scheduled to appear are rapper Doug E. Fresh, radio personality J. Anthony Brown, DJ Biz Markie, and the Memphis Grizzlies' Rudy Gay.

The event begins at 1 p.m. and will include free health screenings, entertainment, and information on the challenge. After the event, Dr. Smith will lead a walk.
