Memphis is grieving after news emerged that Brandon Clarke, the energetic and beloved forward who became a fan favorite with the Grizzlies, passed away at 29 years old.

The Memphis Grizzlies released a statement Tuesday saying they were “heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” adding that he “was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten.”
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also addressed the loss, saying the league was “devastated” by Clarke’s passing and describing him as “a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with enormous passion and grit.”
Clarke’s agency, Priority Sports, shared an emotional tribute as well, calling him “the gentlest soul” and someone who consistently showed up for the people he loved. The agency added that Clarke “impacted everyone who was part of his life” throughout every stage of his basketball journey.
Clarke’s impact in Memphis extended far beyond statistics or highlights. Fans embraced the way he played because every possession felt personal to him.
