The Pink Palace Museum & Mansion will host its annual Science of Beer this Friday. At the event, which typically sells out, guests will be treated to beer samples from the local and regional brewing scene, plus bites from Memphis restaurants.
“When you come to the Science of Beer, you’ll get a commemorative glass and then you’ll make a personal necklace and put it around your neck, and when you go and see the different beer stations, in between them you can clean your palate with a pretzel,” John Wesley Mullikin said of the event.
Those in attendance will vote on the best brew of the night, the award in recent years having gone to Hampline Brewing Company, which will return this Saturday. Other featured beer vendors include Bluff City Brewers, Boscos Squared, Cooper House Project, Creature Comforts Brewing Co., Crosstown Brewing Company, Flyway Brewing, Ghost River Brewing Co., Grind City Brewing Co., High Cotton Brewing Co., Hi-Wire Brewing, Maroon Brew Co., Meddlesome Brewing, Memphis Brewers Association, Memphis Filling Station (MFS Brewing), Memphis Made Brewing Co., Mississippi Ale House, Soul & Spirits Brewery, TailGate Brewery, Urban Artifact, Void Brewing Co., and Wiseacre Brewing Co.
But you won’t just be drinking — you’ll be learning, too, with demonstrations and games from local groups. And there will be bites to eat from Aldo’s Pizza Pies, Boscos, Crave Sweets, Gus’ World Famous Fried Chicken, Hog Wild BBQ, J. Brooks Coffee Roasters, Leonard’s Pit Barbecue, Maciel’s Tacos & Tortas, Slider Inn, and Wolf River Popcorn.
Purchase tickets at tinyurl.com/4f3za6nd. General admission is $60, and tickets for designated drivers are $25. VIP tickets have sold out as of press-time.
All proceeds go to the Museum of Science & History education and community departments.
