An old friend of Memphis, Latty Latimer, who did the morning show for three years on KIX 106, was back in town to judge the cocktails and spaghetti gravy contests at the Memphis Italian Festival, which was held May 28th through May 30th at Marquette Park.
Two big reasons why he made the trip from Houston, Texas, where he is a radio on-air personality for 104.1 KRVE: “I came in town for my birthday weekend, and I’m a judge during the Italian fest,” he says. “I have to come back.”
It was his third year to judge, says Latimer, 46, a Memphis native.
So, where was his birthday dinner celebration after all that spaghetti gravy? “Keeping it Italian, my mom and I went to Pete & Sam’s with some family members. We went Sunday. So we just kept it going for four days.”
What did he eat? “I had a steak.”
But, he adds, “Of course, I had to get a side of the barbecue pizza.”
