Fans knew blues legend Albert Nelson as Albert King โ€” a name he acquired for being one of the “Three Kings of Blues Guitar,” which included Freddie King and B.B. King. Albert King was left-handed. Since left-handed guitars were harder to come by, he played a right-handed guitar turned upside-down with the lowest string on the bottom. King was known to down-tune his guitar to enhance his note-bending style. He signed with Stax Records in 1966 and recorded some of his biggest hits with Booker T. & the MGs. King is honored with a brass note on Beale’s Walk of Fame.
