Tequila Cocktail That Never Was

18f5/1249343122-steve-jobs-3g-iphone.jpgOne of the first drink ideas that I came up with for the 901 Silver Tequila story was Steve Jobs' Liver.

Yes, it is in bad taste, but that's not the reason it never made it to the testing phase.

Planning of the story happened just after news broke about Jobs' liver transplant, and Steve Jobs' Liver was one of the first cocktail names that struck me. For the cocktail, I wanted an apple element — perhaps something along the lines of this recipe from

However, in the interest of keeping it simple, Steve Jobs was tossed aside.

That doesn't mean you can't make up a recipe for Steve Jobs' Liver using 901 — or any other Memphis-inspired 901 cocktail — for our 901 Tequila contest. Details are here.

Here's the last recipe provided by 901. It's the Pepino. Isn't it gorgeous?

Pepino 1833/1249343214-pepino_wht_fpo.jpg
1 1⁄2 oz 901 Silver Tequila
1 slice of English cucumber 1⁄4 of an inch thick
1⁄4 oz agave nectar
3⁄4 oz fresh lime juice
1⁄2 oz fresh pineapple juice/boiron pineapple puree
3 Italian basil leaves
1⁄2 oz Combier (Cointreau)
Muddle the cucumber then add the rest of the ingredients, ice, shake and pour into a tall glass.
Garnish with a slice of cucumber and a sprig of basil.
