To mark its 20th anniversary, Sekisui is offering a special menu with 1989 prices at its original Humphrey’s Center location through Saturday.

According to David Lindsey, Sekisui’s marketing director and the assistant to founder Jimmy Ishii, the prices are about 20 percent less than they are on the 2009 menu.

The vegetable teriyaki, for example, on the 1989 menu is $7.95 (2009: $10.95); the California roll is $3.75 (2009: $3.95); and the Sekisui dinner, which includes sashimi, nigiri, and rolls, is $22.95 (2009: $28.95).

On Saturday at 5 p.m., the Humphrey’s Center Sekisui will close its doors to the general public for a combo VIP party/50th birthday party for Jimmy Ishii. Then at 10 p.m., all former and current employees of all Sekisui locations are invited to the reunion party, which will have free booze, food, and karaoke.

Lindsey says that the 1989 menu special, which started last Sunday, has been going over well.

“It’s a good deal,” he says, “especially for sushi fans.”
