Charley's, Mellow Mushroom Open Monday

Posted By on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 7:20 AM

Charley’s Grilled Subs, a chain based in Ohio, will hold a grand opening of its 400th location at the Oak Court Mall on Monday, January 25th, 10 a.m.

Also on Monday, the popular pizza franchise Mellow Mushroom opens at the Shops of Forest Hill in Germantown.

Charley’s touts its Philly cheese steaks and its “GIFOY” — grilled in front of you — approach.

To celebrate its opening, Charley’s founder Charley Shin will be on hand to present a scholarship to a student of Houston High in honor of the late Shantwan Jackson, a Houston senior who was killed in a car accident late last year.

There will also a Man vs. Food-style eating contest.

Charley’s will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Lots of people are pumped about the new Mellow Mushroom. They can thank Cary and Lori Fairless.

According to a press release, Cary first ate the pizza in Lexington, Kentucky, while visiting his son. He was blown away.

Franchisers get to add their own personal touches to the restaurants. The Germantown location will have a Memphis music theme.

Mellow Mushroom was founded in 1974 by Georgia college students. It’s known for its relaxed atmosphere, generous vegetarian options, and wide beer selection. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. weeknights and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends.
