Build Your Own Pizza Night at Pizze Stone

I've finally discovered something my kids like better than pizza: Pizza they made themselves from dough ball to cheese-laden pie. Thanks a lot, Pizza Stone.

Now every day when I pick them up from school the twins beg for "make your own pizza" like they used to beg for McDonald's Happy Meals.

Apparently the sense of accomplishment they feel is even better than some crappy plastic toy/movie tie-in. When I tell them, "Sorry, but they only do 'build your own pizzas on Sunday nights' they cross their arms and stare at me like I was the biggest liar in the universe.

I keep trying to turn this DIY spirit to my advantage: "Hey girls, how about we make tonight 'wash your own dishes night?'" Fail.

And the worst part of it all is that I can't really blame them for being persistent. As the family's chief cook and bottle washer I've got little interest in going out to toss my own pie. But very few days go by that I don't think about the Pizze Stone's Lucca Brazzi. It's such a nice garlic-laden cheese slice topped with arugula, marinated anchovies, and handmade smoked mozzarella. It kind of makes me feel like a kid again.
