Sound Advice: The Atomic Duo play Two Stick in Oxford

Posted By on Thu, Apr 7, 2011 at 1:01 PM

The Atomic Duo was probably my favorite discovery at this year's Folk Alliance conference. Openly—and hilariously—subversive this pair explores the roots and branches of American music while functioning as "a fully-committed Left Wing protest band." I'd wanted to share a video clip I took of the duo performing the Gil Scott Heron song "Whitey on the Moon," as though it might have been written by Scott Joplin, but apparently I didn't save it. So you'll have to settle for checking out what I did keep, Joplin's "New Rag" and...

A fantastic original about the wonders of trickle down economics.

The Atomic Duo is at Two Stick in Oxford, MS on Thursday, April 7. 8 p.m.
