Sarah Brown, who joined the theater faculty at the University of Memphis in 2007, has received a Fulbright Award from the United States/Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF). Brown will teach students students at the University of Haifa, Israel how to how to develop solo performances based on personal experiences. She will also lead classes and workshops on Commedia-style clowning.

"The subject matter for my solo shows has often been Jews in America," Brown says. "I've written about being Jewish from a variety of perspectives within a variety of different 'lives', always with the intent of engendering more understanding of who Jews are to themselves as well as to others, and attempting to expose the demons of social and religious alienation that have molded their experience throughout history."
