Re: “Cohen Reacts to Comey Firing

I would love to see the response from the right had Obama did something like this. Oh, and might I add did something like this about a week after holding his own rally.

Re: “Opposition Arises to Hotel Proposed for Beale Street

So we'd prefer a vacant and decaying lot because during construction there could be rattles felt? Upon Google earth, this building in the article is directly next to the former Plush Club that was supposed to become some other music venue, is that supposed to just rot forever too? It might cause vibrations to just tear it down

Re: “Revisions of Overton Gateway Plan Revealed

I don't think you can compare renderings they released yesterday to Hickory Hill-- they actually look quite urban and have good balance to the street (imo more like something on Harbor Town). I was against MRG buying this as opposed other developers recently fwiw. However, I don't think they've done a terrible job making it look more like the neighborhood. Also I do live in the area as well and my ultimate point is people are always going to be unhappy-- and I wouldn't assume this is going to be a seedy element-- is that how you'd view apartments around South Main and downtown? People want to live around Midtown now (millenials etc).. but apparently only $100,000 plus homes you purchase would be the only way?

Re: “Revisions of Overton Gateway Plan Revealed

I've grown to realize NIMBYS are usually pretty terrible to progress. And, in a city where many complain there is no growth with new housing in areas people want to live, try to block it once it arrives. BTW-- I don't know if anyone has noticed in regards to the "this is too tall it's 4-5 stories" that Sam Cooper where this will front is pretty much a freeway.

Re: “Historic William C. Ellis & Sons Building in Demolition Crosshairs

While the Carlisle's have taken entirely too long on this project and I understand the want to save historic buildings- if more comes out soon would it be better to have an old warehouse or new skyscrapers? This is why we've been left behind on many things. Not to mention on their fb page it references turning it into a Loflin type restaurant... has there been anything in the news this week about a failure of putting tons of $ into an abandoned building turned restaurant!?!? As much as they are pointing at the developers saying they have no plans, does MH really at all either? If other plans for skyscrapers come up are they going to protest because an old unused building is on its site?

Re: “Prairie Farms Expansion Stirs Neighborhood Controversy

This isn't exactly a small, local company anymore:

http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/print-edition/2016/03/25/7-prairie-farms-dairy-inc.html

So the whole sympathy for the "we have to have a PILOT or not afford to move" thing doesn't really hold as well as people say.

Interesting tidbit from the Tucker-Jefferson neighborhood association:

Our "Neighborhood" Dairy. There were many important questions from concerned midtown residents at the Brooks meeting yesterday like, "will there be a comprehensive environmental study, how many additional tractor trailer trucks will there be, etc.?" Although we did learn that there will be a 30 to 40 percent increase in 18 wheeler traffic, most other important facts impacting neighbors were not answered because Prairie Farms management was not at the meeting.
Over 700 dairy farm co-op members own the Illinois-based company whose 2015 revenue was $2.76 billion and ranks number 7 of the top 150 privately held companies in America.
I came away from the meeting with the understanding that we are not dealing with a local company and Prairie Farms could not care less about midtown Memphis
