Re: “In Defense of Lance Armstrong

My problem with Armstrong isn't that he used PEDs and other banned practices... I knew all along that he did, as cycling is so dirty a sport that there is no way that Armstrong could have excelled for as long as he did in the sport if he didn't do so. My problem with Armstrong was his continual, self-righteous denial of his PED use.

If self-righteousness is bullshit, as you say, much of it was dumped on this discussion by Armstrong himself. I personally take a large degree of satisfaction in his being unmasked as a pious, self-righteous fraud, and he deserves every bit of opprobrium thrown at him.

I don’t know if this scenario would legally be considered rape...

Yes it would. Under the influence of Ambien, the woman in this scenario would not be consenting to sex.

Re: “MAD AS HELL: In Which the Author Thinks of McCain-Palin While Listening to The Who's 'Won't Get Fooled Again' on a Blaring iPod

These are the two sorriest presidential candidates I've *ever* seen... Thank god Steve Cohen is up for re-election, or I'd just give voting a complete pass this November.

Re: “Gorgeous George

Woody Allen's double live album is still available in CD (I've heard rumors that it's missing a few minutes compared to the vinyl, FWIW) on the Rhino Records label (last I looked). Highly recommended. I still think his "Moose" monologue is one of the funniest things I've ever heard in my life.

Re: “Memphis Needs More Single Men ... Or Fewer Women

More single women than men here? You'd never know that by the lack of dates--much less serious relationships--in my life in the last 5 years.
