Re: “Russell George, owner of Earnestine and Hazel's, found dead

I talked to Russell George and his black friend Miss Johnson when they had the shirt Ragged but Right. He was such an affable, sweet man and Miss Johnson and he were so welcoming and fun! I always stopped at Earnestine and Hazels when I came to Tennessee from California, although a Knoxville, Tennessee native, have spent many years in California from the 60's on. I Stopped there in the 2nd week of October and was terribly saddened to learn of Russell's death. I had the occasion to talk to his son outside and offer my condolences and he told me of one of his fishing stories about his father and I could tell they were very close. I think Russell was a noble man and I hope that his son stays put there and carries on the proud tradition of Earnestine and Hazels. My sympathy to his family for their loss and at the same time I wish them joy from the proud history of Earnestine and Hazels Russell left them. May it blues cool on! And I'll be back hoping that it does. And I hope his son writes about his father and Earnestine and Hazels remarkable history. Nancy Park-Johnson
