Re: “Talking the Talk: The Case for Three Presidential Candidates

Addressing this comment to Mr. Baker: You note in your recent Flyer article that the public should not be alarmed by Bloomberg's self-funded candidacy, involving more money than any of the others has by large amounts, but amounting to pocket change for him personally. You refer us to Roosevelt, who was also comparitively wealthy, relative to the other candidates. The only part of the comparison that stands up to scrutiny for me is the rich part. He does not like like, nor would he tolerate, taxing the very richest at a rate adequate to actually fund anything substantive. His apologies for Stop and Frisk, and for his loud and obnoxious sexist comments in the past, fall flat. The damage has been done and can't be undone. Bloomberg is, to borrow a phrase, no Roosevelt.

Re: “Furry and Sid

I'm glad you didn't kill him too, Steve. I came to Memphis in 1996, and didn't get to meet Lee in the first couple of months. Right after that was when he was murdered, and I never did get to meet him. So I'm insanely jealous of your early experiences with all those men. I'm very glad I got to meet your pop and hang with him a little bit. He was a very good man, and contributed more than most Memphibians will ever know to Memphis's culture.
