Re: “Bigger Isn't Always Better

I think it's interesting in this market that any bank would brag about their "size". At what cost did Region's become such a large institution? Thanks to First American, United American Bank, Union Planters, Regions (former Regions), AmSouth and numerous other smaller banks that were swallowed into what is now Regions. They may have numerous branches within TN but how many closed? How many employees had to lose their jobs for them to get this big? How many of their facilities had to move to Birmingham for them to publicly brag? Thousands of jobs have been lost at Region's but their CEO has never suffered a loss in income. Dowd Ritter & Jack Moore made sure that they came out on top. Jack got a $70M + bonus with the taxes paid by the bank. If this is how they get to be a "big" bank then good for them.
