Re: “Next Day Notes, Game 5: Grizzlies 100, Thunder 99

For most of this series, OKC has not been a team that "can keep up a scoring barrage for 48 minutes" either. Both teams' respective strengths clearly have a tendency to cancel each other out. After an uncharacteristically strong offensive performance by the Grizz, OKC saw some shots fall and then started playing defense on us as if our identities had been reversed, at which time we rediscovered our dogged defense again and so on... On another note: You did not comment on the "Joey-Gate" incident, that allegedly cost KD his second free throw. What's your take on it?

Re: “Dispatch from Grizzlies/Thunder Game 4

The free throw troubles are worrisome, hugely frustrating and difficult to comprehend. But as Marc Gasol said in his post-game comments, no player wants to miss a free throw, yet when that happens, they have to look for making up these mistakes during their next possessions which is what they did for the most part last night. The pendulum has swung into OKC's favor again (they are the second seed in the competitive Western Conference for a reason, after all), but all is not lost yet. What do posters here think about bringing Z-Bo back into the game during the last minute? The Thunder seem to have found a way to contain him successfully, would it have been wiser to leave him out?

Re: “Next Day Notes, Game 2: Grizzlies 111, Thunder 105

I love the Flyer's analysis and commentators. The posts are much more to the point and about the actual game of basketball than the posts on the CA website.

Of course, OKC will adjust and give us all they have got on Thursday. There is still so much basketball to be played. And if we lose the next one, everyone will quickly come to the conclusion that last night's win was a fluke. But one thing that made the difference in my mind wasn't anything that happened in Game 2 but our coming back within 2 in Game 1 (something the GSW could not do against the Clippers last night). That kind of mental strength is what is so special about the Grizzlies and makes us a very dangerous playoff team (plus a whole lot of fun for the fans!).
