Re: “Joe Canepari and Southern Motors

My father worked as a top salesman for Southern Motors at 341 Union Avenue, for 16 years. Joe Canepari then decided to cut salesmen's commissions to almost nothing. My father and most of the other salesmen quit because they could no longer make a decent living there. My father said all the salesmen were saying that Joe Canepari was a greedy bastard that wanted it all for himself and didn't want to share it with anyone. I remember his greed created an awful hardshilp on my family in the early 1960s. B. Anderson

Re: “Peete's Last Take

Why is there never any mention of Rickey Peete's and Joe Cooper's former felony convictions of 25 or so years ago? Peete served time for bribery and Cooper served Federal time also for obtaining loans under other people's names. Both of these men previously violated the public trust. The surprising thing to me, (a native Memphian and former reporter), is that the public put it's trust in these two AGAIN when both of them have proven themselves unworthy of public trust. Both were in office at the time of their earlier convictions. Like old Casey said,"It's de je vu all over again". Put the same crooks in office again, and you get what you deserve.Let's hope the ignorant public will put these two on the dung heap of history this time.
