Re: “OPC: 'No Doubt' On Reaching $1 Million Goal by Sunday

If the Memphis Zoo lived by its own published philosophy and mission statements, there would have never been one car parked on the Greensward, and they would have solved their own parking problems years ago. Talk is cheap and the zoo's philosophy and mission statement are just hollow words, that can easily be categorized with the rest of the dung that their animals create. The time is coming to see if Dr. Brady and the MZS have the integrity to actually keep its agreement, or if they find some other way to throw a wrench into the works.

Re: “Zoo: Mayor Can Ask State to Allow Trams in Old Forest

The zoo refuses to acknowledge that surface road shuttles work for over 20 US zoos, a multitude of Amusement Parks throughout the World, and almost every airport in the World. Their concern for families packing in for the day, neglect to take into account that airport shuttles carry the luggage for families going on trips lasting numerous days, months, and/or years. They also conveniently fail to recognize the safety issues with motorized trams sharing these trails/roads with the Memphis citizens running, walking and bicycling. There is more than ample parking available at Tiger Lane, which is only utilized 20 - 30 days a year and within easy shuttle distance from the zoo's existing entrance or the new one proposed for North Parkway. If Omaha can shuttle their zoo visitors 5.6 miles to ease traffic congestion and parking problems successfully, why can't Memphis. What makes our zoo visitors different from those in other cities? Or is that just another tired old excuse for the zoo to grab more acres of our park?

Re: “Heavy Rains Bring Gravel Path to Greensward

Gravel path? That's a gravel road anywhere in the south and a blatant violation of Worth Morgan's amendment to the resolution on March 1st. This is a capital addition and gravel is a means of paving. Our City Council members should stand behind Mr. Morgan's amendment and rescind the resolution based on this violation, returning the Greensward to the management of the OPC.
