Re: “The Bottom Line?

I have to say something about the comments made by closed-minded people here. I worked for Danny Owens for about 4 years starting in 1992. Like most people, I had heard nightmare stories about the owners/ managers of clubs like this. I heard about "the things that went on". I started out as a waitress, but quickly became a dancer because I had to do what I needed to do to pay my bills. Dancing is not the same as prostitution; yes some girls did that, but most didn't.Guess what???? There are girls that don't dance that sell their bodies for sex EVERYDAY!!! As far as how safe it was, I've had 3 different rape attempts on me and not one was when I was dancing. The media, etc, wanted to make an example of Danny and Blake; OCU wanted everyone to believe that they were these horrible guys who allowed / encouraged drug use, prostitution, etc. Now, you can think what you want as someone who does not know them, but as someone who does, I can tell you right now, Danny and Blake did quite the opposite.....they don't really want girls to even smoke cigarettes, but it's their right to do so. There were fines for doing things you weren't supposed to do in his clubs.I also felt safe working for them, because I knew I would be taken care of, walked to my car, called if I had a problem.I didn't get to see them much before they went to prison, but I talked to them quite frequently ..... they are some of the nicest most caring guys I've ever met in my life. If you really believe that the life exectancy of a dancers career is that short, think again, I've seen mother's and daughter's dance together. As far as dancers not becoming anything else and not "saving up for college", that's funny because I'm a nurse now and that education wasn't free. You don't think club owners care about the girls that work for them and aren't encouraging about them getting out of the business? That's interesting to me because when I talked to Blake recently, for the first time in a looooong time, and told him I'm a nurse now, his response was,"That's AWESOME!!!" Oh, yeah I can definitely see your point.... Instead of trying to get me to dance again, he told me he was proud of me. Some of the best people I've ever known were in the adult entertainment industry. Stop throwing stones at others when you live in such a fragile glass house yourself. You have no idea what brought those girls there and you have no idea where they are going. Until you meet each one, don't judge them. Remember...."Judge not lest ye be judged"............just something to think about. People are not bad just because they do not conform to your morals.
