Re: “City Council Approves Cooper-Young Historic Status With Conditions

"Councilman Martavius Jones expressed concerns about the effect the historic designation would have on regular, everyday taxpayers, saying it will be a greater burden on them."

This is a red herring if ever I saw one. Regular homeowners will probably never attempt the kind of front-of-the house modifications that trigger Landmarks procedures. The carefully-crafted Guidelines keep the look Cooper-Youngites say and show they want, while not interfering with alterations not visible from the street in front. Replacing windows and paint color are not even regulated. All Councilpersons ought to have known this by now.

Re: “City Council Moves to Temporarily Halt Demolition in Cooper-Young

No, it's scheduled for TUESDAY April 10th, 3:30 PM in city hall. If you want Landmarks to pass, you are needed there!

Re: “Next Movement

It's still a mistake to move the Brooks rather than rebuild the exposed-concrete addition bigger & better. The Brooks has supporters; what would a fairly-weird cultural center have to sustain it? But Hyde money has spoken..

Re: “Arcade to expand

Sadly, this expansion eats the storefront where artist John Robinette had his gallery for many years, also the office of RiverArts Fest.

Re: “A Post About Gluten Free Strippers and Effing Traffic

Good to see. Stripping has always been such a formal, hidebound medium, glad somebody finally grew a sense of humor about it. But.. they can't strip here, right? what with the Baptists and all?

Re: “Brooks Leaders Consider Downtown Location

I'm hearing it's already been decided, mainly due to Overton Park Conservancy unwilling to cede any land to the Brooks, and Pitt Hyde money. Mr Hyde has a great art collection, and the Brooks has not got room for it. So if we have any sway over the Conservancy, which works for the Greensward, but against the Brooks, time to exert it!
