Re: “Private Contractor Makes Millions Off GPS Trackers for Immigrants

Typical misleading and less than completely truthful propaganda piece trying to convince the U.S. public to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Bryce Ashby/Michael LaRosa must have this week off. So, someone else from Latino Memphis obviously had to fill in. Introducing……………….Casey [Bryant] at the Bat.

I especially like the “like many undocumented individuals, Sophia is afraid that she will be sent back to a dangerous city……” part in the 6th Paragraph. Nice try at attempting to lump the relatively few actual asylum seekers in with the 12 million to 30 million illegal aliens in this country – the VAST majority of which are simple, opportunistic, economic migrants looking to improve their fortunes, no matter what negative effects they have on U.S. citizens and legal residents. The two groups are NOT remotely the same. But nice try at attempting to confuse the facts and the issues concerning illegal immigration.

I also like Paragraph 7, “Why would I run away? asked Sofia.” Well, Sofia, you see a lot of people don’t show-up for those ICE hearings, especially if they don’t think that they are likely to be granted asylum. So, a lot of people just melt into the general population and become another one of the millions of illegal aliens in this country. It’s a common occurrence, maybe you’ve heard. So, the ankle bracelet is to dissuade you from committing that common occurrence.

But my favorite line comes in Paragraph 11, “Latino Memphis…. sees [ankle monitoring bracelets] as a wrongheaded solution to something that was not a problem in the first place.” Really?? Not a problem?? As mentioned above, people not showing up for immigration hearings and essentially melting into the general population is a HUGE problem.

The bottom line is that monitoring bracelets for asylum seekers are better than government detention – better for the U.S. taxpayers and better for the asylum seekers themselves. If you don’t want to follow our rules, then go seek asylum in some other country. Maybe, you will get treatment more to your liking in some other country, but I rather doubt it.

For the millions of other illegal aliens in this country who are nothing more than opportunistic, economic migrants, we shouldn’t be wasting money on ankle bracelets and extensive hearings. Give them a brief but fair hearing and then quickly deport them – the same way that virtually every other country in the world does.
