Re: “Herenton’s Choice

King Willie is the mayor of Memphis the Noose Region (the ring of suburbs choking memphis to death) deserves.

I don't know if King Willie can beat our current Mayor Peter Griffin, but I would love to see him do it.

Re: “Memphians Respond to State Punishment Over Statues

@barf & @CL

We're gonna keep losing until we start playing to win.

No quarter for Nashville. They can afford to play nice. Memphis has to fight dirty.

Re: “Memphians Respond to State Punishment Over Statues

Nashville was legislated into existence by the state of TN because making Memphis or Chattanooga the capital was logistically impossible.

That's like saying not to blame Washington DC for the things they do. There wouldn't even be a District of Columbia if not for the Fed. Same with Nashville.

Re: “Memphians Respond to State Punishment Over Statues

At what point do we stand up and start boycotting all Nashville based businesses in Memphis? Lord knows they do it to us when we come to Nashville. #nomorenashville

Re: “Hattie B's Opening Wednesday

Only a Nashville based operation would act like putting hot seasoning on a chicken is somehow novel.

Gus's wouldn't be caught dead selling you chicken that wasn't properly seasoned.

But watch, someone's gonna come in here and act like the whole "Keep Memphis for Memphians" position is somehow a backward way of viewing the issue. Never mind every franchise that comes here from Nashville siphons money away from Memphis that we desperately need to keep in our own economy.

Re: “‘Devastating’ Development

You've got to stop holding unscrupulous development companies accountable for the things they do that ruin the quality of life for the average memphian.

It's all about catering to the "Urban locust" market that destroyed Austin and Nashville now.

Re: “Baby Boomers and the Parkland Activists

I like how people use the word "bureaucratic" like it's a bad thing.

The FBI is a bureau. FBI agents are technically bureaucrats. That's doesn't inherently mean FBI agents are good or bad. There is good bureaucracy and bad.

All you need to know about baby boomers and hypocrisy is that they were allowed to drink at age 18, but when their children got old enough to drink, they raised the drinking age to 21.

They did more drugs in the 70's than any other generation, then when their children got old enough to use drugs, they instituted a war on drugs. Then, when they got even older and NEEDED strong drugs, they changed the drug's names and had them released as prescription only.

But hey, hammering all these different shaped pegs into the same peg hole isn't that hard if you use a big enough hammer.

Will people ever get tired of false dichotomies and unnecessary labels? Naw, they're too rhetorically convenient. Gotta keep the base fired up, don't you know? Rah rah rah, go our team, boo, boo to the other team.

There are good Boomers and bad Boomers.

Mostly bad, IMHO, but that's a stereotype, and those are wrong.
