Re: “The Clarksdale Giant

As a 16 yr. old boy I met Max Palmer on the banks of the Mississippi River. He was in a lot of pain, foot had been broken from wrestling he stated.I was there with my girlfriend (now my wife of 57 years) and we walked over & visited with Max for a time. He had been drinking (dealing with pain). Some several years later my wife & I (and our 3 children) had been serving as over-seas Church Planters (commonly called missionaries). I was speaking in a church in Maryville TN. I noted the pastor had a flyer on his desk advertising Max (he had already been there and spoke in the church). I grabbed it an read "Evangelist ..." I COULD NOT BELIEVE! We always wondered what had happened to him after that hot summer's day on the Mississippi! How it thrilled my heart to see that Max had turned to Christ Jesus for Salvation!

Rev. H L Goodman, Kimberling City MO.

PS. Thanks Shane Palmer for sharing something about you dad.
