Re: “The Case of the Two Jake Browns

Not Damage Control Squad. Just a Memphian and friend who is tired of seeing a good Candidate like Jake Brown being the butt of unethical journalism and negative campaigning. I feel that Milton has been given an unfair advantage by Jackson Baker, Steve Cohen, and others in the Democratic party that for one reason or another want to hand him the election. Jake Brown has proven to be not just as good but better (IMHO) than Milton at every debate.
Being a young Democrat that just got out of the Army I intend to stay connected with Memphis and Shelby County politics. The fealing I'm getting is that the "Old Gaurd" is intentionaly throwing a younger and more qualified Candidate under the bus , because Milton has "been arround longer" or "waited his turn".

Re: “The Case of the Two Jake Browns

I realize that a bad break up, over blown address missunderstanding, and a fake twitter account makes for entertaining political viewing. I would however ask one to look past these overblown and false distractions and look at how the candidates respond to the issues facing Dist. 10 and Shelby County. You will find that Jake Brown is as highly qualified as any candidate running for County Commissioner. If you missed the televised debate with Rev. Noel Hutchinson I strongly urge you to go back and watch it.
It's easy to get distracted when others are waiving false flags around you, but you are missing out on a great candidate.

CL Mullins,
The articles have been biased, but I do appriciate them keeping the comment section open as a public forum.

Re: “The Case of the Two Jake Browns

I really wish the Liz bashing would stop. I'm a friend of both Jake and Liz. I have nothing but respect for her as an entrepreneur, staunch liberal Democrat, as a mother, and as a friend. If you call yourself a progressive or Democrat then you will have no one better on your side than her. If you call yourself a Jake Brown supporter then please lets keep it clean, unlike Milton and his ilk.
Milton has publicaly and knowingly made false accusations about Jake.
His supporters have supposedly stolen Jake Brown signs.
Jackson Baker and the Memphis Flyer have used the guise of credible journalism to put out lies and half truths about Jake Brown.
Cohen has shamelessly used the Ornge Mound Ceremony to promote his candidate that had nothing to do with the event.
Cohen has also put in undiserving and incapable "yes" men into office that only continues to hold Memphis and Shelby County back.

Re: “The Case of the Two Jake Browns

Memphisvoter2014, yes I know you are a troll, but I will bite anyways. Jackson Baker has been out since day one trying to discredit Jake Brown's campaign. After each slanderous article that Jackson Baker has presented Jake Brown has come out and given his side of the arguement. If you feel that Milton has run a positive campaign I suggest that you follow the campaigns closer than just reading Jackson Baker articles. Cohen has made an investment in Milton. I'm not saying that Jake is the end all be all of candidates, but I think it says something when Cohen has to go out of his way (like the Orange Mound Ceremony) to ensure that his investment doesn't loose. After witnessing multiple events I tend to lean on the side that the reason Milton is getting most of his support is that he has just been around longer, or because he seems like a nice guy. I'm not knocking him on his public service, but if that is the only reason why he is getting support then it might be indicative of the bad shape Memphis and Shelby County politics are in.

Re: “The Case of the Two Jake Browns

It's disheartening to see such blatant disregard for journalistic impartiality supported by an editor of the Memphis Flyer.
