Re: “#18 Tigers 66, Tulsa 42

A win is a win. I hope the lack of defense doesn't cause us to go down in the rankings, however.

Re: “Tulsa 74, Tigers 72 (OT)

"Just one of those years...," we've had such reasoning for the better part of the last three. One cliched platitude after another from someone who is a decent man, but not a good basketball coach. Those two attributes do not have to be exclusive (Dean Smith, John Wooden and, I believe, Don Haskins come to mind), but Coach Pastner hasn't been able to combine the two in any effective fashion. Unfortunately, however, even if he were to--ahem--resign tomorrow, we are not in a position to get "lucky" as we did with his predecessor. So all of our guesses are as good as any other: maybe next year will bring some form of an epiphany and we can sort of start to win consistently again.

Re: “East Carolina 64, Tigers 53

While not as intense of a comment as the first one above, I do concur in its sentiment that Coach Pastner's abilities as a game manager have been exposed quite clearly this season. As per comment number two, he'll last this year and next simply because we have no other viable options.

9-3 would cause explosions of joy from the Great Plains of Oklahoma, where I live as a proud alumnus.

Re: “Letter from the Editor

Mr. Pilot Oil will win along with many Big Government Republicans. President Obama will probably be able to pull a Brother Bill--God bless him--and win reelection by a fairly substantial margin. Sister Half-Governor Grizzly will run in the GOP primaries, become the Queen-maker if the not the Queen of their convention and raise the "Our Tea is Tepid Party" to heights of psuedo-power from which they will slowly and surely be co-opted (called "necessary compromises") by the Mitch, Newt and Tim "I Don't Have PawLenty" banner. All the while as the deficit explodes, individualism is sacrificed, entreprenurial enterprise is quashed and common decency is further and further removed from public, private and civic discourse.

Agreed with the article and the above comment.
