Re: “40 Years of Ardent

COLONEL!!!!! I hope you can help me beause of course things arent like the movies where you can just google words and news paper clippings pop up with everything you need to know. But im a the grand son for a memphis musician. and my grandfather's name is James Leonard Riley. goes by Leonard. he said he was once in a band called the Shoe String Band and he claims to have recorded a record in which i have possesion of but it is in very bad shape and i hope you have enough knowledge of the real country music that came out of memphis. Now i know he played music and sang because i do have some memories of sitting on stage with him as he played but of the claims that the record i have are in fact his recording or even his band i know not. The fourty five i have at teh top it says Tennesses coutry Boy which i assume is the record company. it was a GloLite Production and made at 62 Chelsea Memphis, Tenn, 38107 and the two tracks are " Mama's Prayers" and on the b side is " I Could Never See You" the name of the artist is scatched off and on side i can make out the soul letter of "B" at the start of the name so maybe a Bob or Beau or Blue. I have no idea. but i do see the name Ashford F. Riley. whom ive never met in my quite extensive family. but I have no idea what to say. The songs have been played at numerous family funerals therefore i trust someone in the family in fact did make the record but if my grandfather had anypart in it i dont know. My grandfather is my hero hence why i cant ask if any of which is true because it would kill him if i called him a liar. But if i could just find a master copy or something to where i can keep this record in the family id be ecstatic. If i find the truth i keep it to myself and let him go on being the hero he is. but i have a number of scenarios that pass through my head that maybe and angry family member stole his songs and made a record but if you have any info. id be appreciative
