Re: “MATA Wants Feedback on New Routes and Route Changes

It's unfortunate but I do not believe that the city can make any significant improvements until the general public changes its attitude toward public transportation. Many people here have a negative impression of public transportation and, I agree that there can be problems, but there are solutions.

Re: “Solar Panels to be Installed in Frayser

I'm glad to see MLGW participating in projects like this. Let's hope it is successful and expands.

Re: “Paper Cuts

I just can't bring myself to pay for The Commercial Appeal ... and I can't imagine a scenario where I would "need" them (especially in its current form). The Flyer and other news sources around the city serve my needs very well.

Re: “Gannett Unveils Plan for The Commercial Appeal

I haven't bought The Commercial Appeal in years and these changes aren't enough to change my mind. It's unfortunate that so many people are losing their jobs but the quality of the paper just isn't worth paying for. I have the same opinion of most broadcast news also. Most journalists (and most people, for that matter) have forgotten that there is a difference between reporting facts and writing opinion pieces.

Re: “Fund Invests in Memphis to Transform Recycling Program

LoveBC - That is a huge pet peeve of mine. There is a huge sticker on the top of the large recycling bins that says exactly what you should and should not put into them. Some people are simply too lazy to put forth a small amount of effort and follow directions.

Re: “Another Round of Layoffs Begins at the Commercial Appeal

The anonymous comments at the CA would get out of hand quite often- and generally for no legitimate reason. I am sure that they had to invest an unnecessary amount of time monitoring the comments and evaluating "reported" posts. Forcing people to go through Facebook, which makes them (theoretically- it is possible to create fake accounts) reveal their real name will help cut down on the nastiness (and some of the stupidity). It won't eliminate the problem entirely, though, unfortunately. Compare the quality of the comments on sites that require a "real" name versus sites that allow anonymous comments sometime. In general, the anonymous comments are worthless.

I have not paid for a copy of the Commercial Appeal in years and I rarely visit their website any more. I could not care less about their alleged political bias or other nonsense. I just do not think that the quality of their content is worth the price.
