Re: “"Occupy Memphis" Cadres Meet Again, Plan New Action

Well, thank you very much, Jackson. You make me blush.

I'd like to thank the divisive derisive comments for the great new pen name.

Furthermore, to this group of unfriendlies, the Occupation movement is far too complex to understand without arriving at the general assemblies and the teach ins. You can attend. There are an extremely diverse number of people coming to participate or understand. To truly criticize this movement from an objective perspective and with more productive arguments either for or against it, you should come to understand it as fully as possible. If you judge this from what is in the many different media and even social media groups, you will be doing something that is on par with attempting to write and then defend a master's thesis on Faulkner's prolific and diverse styles of writing when all you have actually studied are the sparks notes available online for lazy freshmen of "Light in August."

Re: “"Occupy Memphis" Cadres Meet Again, Plan New Action

My sweet Mr. Baker, I feel I must apologize to you for my rather rushed and fevered reaction to this. I do remember our shared laugh, and please accept my apologies for misrepresenting your portrayal of my wishes. As I have never been involved in anything of this nature, I am a novice with such a level of controversial PR. However, unfortunately in this case, I am a bit of a master of evisceration with words, and I awoke to a friend saying "they're calling for your head in the Flyer." I rushed to respond rather than tread lightly as I should have.

My only problem with the quote itself is that it did leave room for misinterpretation, but such a misinterpretation would only come from a hyper-literal moron such as these unfriendly people you mentioned.

Again, please accept my apology -- not because I wish to pander to you, but because you are right, and I was wrong. My career is not in community organization or anything of that nature. I am only one of many involved with this. And, I have to say I was wrong to attack you rather than these other people who do not deserve being named.

By the way, I called you darling because I am always a bit of coquette with men who have a way with words and sparkle in their eyes. Peace, Jackson? I promise not to cut your head off if you agree to a truce ;)

As for the handsome fellow in the Rhodes shirt, he is far more eloquent, intelligent and humanitarian than you can even fathom. You have no idea who you are talking about. If you did, you would say he is far to "classy" for Rhodes. I am disgusted with this.

I am Jennifer Allen. I am the one you are calling Madame Guillotines and my darling Jackson Baker grossly misquoted me. I am absolutely against violence. I made that clear. He did what journalists are able to do: paraphrase and edit. Violent revolutions destabilize governments with the exception of the the American Revolution. I studied history. I see it repeat. This is vile. If you people calling me Madame Guillotines would like to meet with me face to face, name the time and place. We can discuss this without the distortion of media sensationalism. This is slander. And, don't worry, I will arrive unarmed. I did, however, look lovely in Court Square.
