Re: “Letters to the Editor

So, the Fed is going to start printing money to buy our own debt. Guess China is getting tired of propping us up. This desparate move maybe buys us another year before our 401k's vaporize. Oh well, I wasn't really counting on that anyway. We're only propping mountains up on matchsticks. I wish I wrote that line, but all I could come up with was, This is the farting before the fat lady sings.....

So the Fed is going to start printing money to buy our own debt. (something they said they would not do} I guess China is tired of propping us up. This move maybe buys us another year, keyword , maybe. "Propping mountains up on matchsticks comes to mind for some reason" great line. or maybe this is the fart that preceeds the fat lady singing...

Re: “Letters to the Editor

You make some good points, the tea party needs leadership that can better communicate it's objectives in a charismatic way. I also agree with packrat that outside of influencing the upcoming elections, it has no long term goals. Waving flags at rallys while listening to speeches made by megalomaniacs gets old after a while. The Beck speech was (I'm sorry) kinda lame, and I'm a Libertarian like he is. But this stuff about it being the "new white Christian party" sounds silly to me, even though that's what it is. It would be like me calling a rally of Latino's a "brown Catholic rally"

No, You don't join the criminals, you join the neighborhood watch that's trying to stop the criminals. That would be a more correct analogy Chris, though not politically correct maybe.

Re: “Letters to the Editor

This is just a repeat of history in my view. 300 hundred years ago, before the institution of slavery really got going in North America, the plantation owners here in the South pretty much relied on it's indentured servant class for it's labor. These included whites, blacks, and natives. After a while they became increasingly dissatisfied with their lot and they started to revolt.Fearing their loss of status as "lords" in the "new world", ( the plantation system was based on the English manor model with a Lord, serfs, and an intermediate religious clergy that usually sided with the interests of the Lord ) The Planters along with the Clergy came up with a plan. They elevated the white servants up a notch, he got to work his own little plot for himself and his family, And in order to sustain his slightly elevated status, he became loyal to the to the interests of the Planter. The blacks became official slaves at this point, and the natives were moved out west or killed. My point is, as long as we are divided Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Male, Female, Gay, Straight, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Atheist, REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT... They win..... The solution? All the afore mentioned groups, Instead of complaining about the Tea Party, JOIN IT, if it lacks diversity, make it diverse, If it leans to far right, then balance it out... I don't think we can survive 10 more years with the current 2 party system.
