Re: “Gay Pride Trolley Tour & ENDA

In regards to gender identity and gender expression being stuck from the bill, I would like to point out that while that sounds discriminatory, what a lot of people don't know is that "transgender" is an umbrella term that includes gender identity and expression; any expression--behavioral, sexual, physical (to include clothing, accessories, etc.)--that is outside the parameters of socially constructed gender expectations within one's anatomical sex is transgender, meaning crossing the gender norm or expectation. So, we should rest assured knowing that, whether these lawmakers did it inadvertently, they have done nothing but cut down redundancy when they struck gender identity and expression from the literature.

Re: “Local Schools Allow Access to LGBT Websites

When will people stop referring to LGBT as a "behavioral system?" Or a "belief system?" Reading about LGBT people is vital to understanding LGBT people. And I don't think the LGBT community is recruiting new members; it's a lifetime membership kinda deal. If you're L, G, B, T, or Q(ueer/uestioning), you belong to the community.

To compare being LGBTQ to behavior lending itself to murder, theft, slander (???), etc. is just--frankly--idiocy.

Re: “Discrimination Protections for Gays Voted Down in County Commission Committee

You know, it has been my observation that the people who are most vehemently opposed to homosexuality are homosexuals. So, that might help explain why Wyatt Bunker and Chris Thomas are so vocal about this: they don't want to be outed.

On another note, I think that those pastors and the commissioners who spoke yesterday did us all a huge favor: they went public with their ignorance, bigotry, and hatred and showed everyone just how immoral the religious right in this country can be.
