Thanks for sharing this Bianca. TEP will have a base of operations at the Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center at 892 South Cooper in the middle of the festival. Volunteers will be mingling in the festival crowd asking folks to pledge support for LGBT equality. If you come to the festival, be sure to sign the pledge or volunteer an hour or two to help gather pledges.

To clarify, the TEP PAC has endorsed Joe Ford for Shelby County Mayor. TEP (Tennessee Equality Project) is a separate organization.

Isn't it curious that the opponents of workplace equality would choose Steve Gaines to speak on their behalf, a man who knowingly retained a child molester on his church staff for over 6 months. Bellevue Baptist Church's own report on the matter said Gaines made a mistake by not immediately relieving Williams of his duties and seeking counsel on the matter.…

Seriously? We are supposed to listen to this man as a source of moral authority and sound judgment?

The Tennessee Equality Project Foundation provided LGBTQ diversity training to several officers and training academy staff in 2008 after the Duanna Johnson beating. I take this as a good sign that some of that training being retained by the Department. Congratulations to the Memphis Police Department for turning out great officers like Joy Jefferson!
